Welcome to Herefordshire 4x4 Response Group
Herefordshire 4X4 Response Group is a registered member of the NATIONAL 4X4 RESPONSE NETWORK. There are currently 26 member groups around the UK. We are all volunteer groups that are involved in helping the country's emergency services and local community.
With backing from Herefordshire Council, we offer assistance to the Hereford & Worcester Emergency Services and the residents of the county. Our most recent call out's were in response to the heavy snow falls that blanketed the country in February 2009 and before that, the wide spread flooding of July 2007.
With increased risks of localised and wide spread flooding, extreme weather and the possibility of remote locations and uneven terrain, emergency and voluntary services may find themselves without suitable resources to allow them to efficiently carry out their work. Herefordshire 4x4 Response Group is available to assist the services by providing all-terrain vehicles and advanced off road driving capabilities across uneven terrain, flooded roads and to other areas inaccessible to most vehicles. The Response Group voluntarily provided support in all weather conditions, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The site's aim is to provide valuable information and to boost awareness to the county's local communities of our services and expertise that we have to offer. Being a volunteer service, we do not receive any centralised funding. Our funds are raised purely by donations to the group. All of our members donate their time, vehicles, expertise, equipment and everything else we rely on to assist the county in times of need.
Herefordshire 4x4 Response Group was awarded the Herefordshire Courage Award in "The Pride of Herefordshire Awards 2007" for its role during the wide spread flooding in the summer of 2007 as well as receiving a Chief Officers Commendation from the West Midlands Ambulance Service for Exemplary actions above and beyond the call of duty during the snow storms of spring 2009.
Could you Volunteer?
Herefordshire 4X4 Response Group are always looking for new members to assist in response & recovery of stranded vehicles, working along side the emergency services to offer help and assistance. Ideally a vehicle with four wheel drive and off road capabilities would be suited to the role but is not essential as man power is equally required.
